7 August 2017 - Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan

On 4 August 2017 COAG Health Council members endorsed the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan (Fifth Plan) and the supporting Implementation Plan.  While awaiting final published versions of these two documents we have made available advance reading copies to enable the content of the Fifth Plan and Implementation Plan to be shared.

  

28 October 2016 Launch of the National Cultural Respect Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health 2016–2026

The National Cultural Respect Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health 2016–2026 (the Framework) was launched by the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council on 28 October 2016. This ten year framework seeks to guide delivery of culturally safe, responsive, and quality health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

 

7 August 2015 The Independent Review of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for Health Professions

Health Ministers considered the Final Report on the Independent Review of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health professions (the NRAS Review) and are pleased to publicly release the Final Report.

 

16 June 2015 Professional Indemnity Insurance for Privately Practicing Midwives providing home birthing services

Australian Health Ministers have agreed to extend the current exemption from holding professional indemnity insurance for home births available to privately practicing midwives to 31 December 2016.

 

17 April 2015 A National Code of Conduct for health care workers

Health Ministers met in Sydney and considered the final report A National Code of Conduct for health care workers and the results of a national consultation on standards of conduct for all health care workers who are not registered under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health practitioners.

 

3 December 2014 Health Ministers announce the Appointment of the National Health Practitioner Ombudsman and Privacy Commissioner

The Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council (the Ministerial Council) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Samantha Gavel as the National Health Practitioner Ombudsman and Privacy Commissioner (NHPOPC).

 

1 August 2013 Regulation of Unregistered Health Practitioners

At its recent Standing Council on Health face to face meeting, Ministers considered the Decision Regulatory Impact Assessment: Options for regulation of unregistered health practitioners. Ministers agreed in principle to strengthen state and territory health complaints mechanisms.

 

13 January 2012 Approved national health practitioner registration standards for four national boards

The Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council (the Ministerial Council) is pleased to announce that it has approved national health practitioner registration standards recommended by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia, the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia, the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia, and the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

 

17 February 2011 AHPRA update on its operation from the introduction of the new NRAS

Health Ministers received a report from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) that provided an update on its operation from the introduction of the new National Registration and Accreditation scheme 1 July 2010.

 

16 September 2010 Revised National Mental Health Standards released

The Australian Health Ministers’ Council (AHMC) endorsed the revised National Mental Health Standards to guide quality care provision across Australia’s mental health services.

 

22 April 2010 National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health practitioners

The Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council (the AHWMC) is pleased to announce that it has made decisions in relation to the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health practitioners (the national scheme) on Nursing and Midwifery accreditation and Dental Board of Australia – scope of practice registration standards.

 

 1 April 2010 Health Ministers announce approval of National Health Practitioner Registration Standards
